Megan Mabry Madison’s Wedding in Columbus, GA!

May 9th, 2011

Megan Mabry became Megan Madison when she married Mike.

Say that 5 times fast.

A dear friend and fellow fashion-feign, Megan personalized her wedding with attention to accessories! Let’s follow her as she gets ready for her special day. (And take notes!) All photography compliments of Abby Caroline Mimms.

Hat’s On to the Royal Wedding

April 29th, 2011

I missed the whole wedding. Slept right through. I’m just now getting caught up this morning, with a big cup of coffee… obsessing over some of these hats! I can’t believe the variety… but I’d like one of each, please!

princess-letizia-435

Simple and elegant. Practical and pretty. Polo-perfect. Pearl studs may have been a better choice, to match her soft look!

sophie-winkleman-435

Basic and flirty. Very tarmac runway, in a good way! Loving the round drop earrings.

princess-mathilde-435

Bold. Beautiful. Complimented by what looks like our Manatee Necklace in clear (coming soon to the web). Her makeup is just rosy enough to complement her features, without competing with that hat!

queen-denmark-435

Spring fling-y. Helmet haute. It's a little bit London and a little bit Rock N' Roll! Pearls? Check.

A great pick for Mother of the Groom. Very "good witch"! Loving the pearls.

These nude accents are a lovely compliment to her complexion. The neautrality of the outfit really allows the dramatic accents of the hat give us that surprise effect we look for in accessories!

This couture rendition of feather-in-your-cap makes me think she's got a very important message. Perhaps she's going to object?

Absolutely lovely for a spring wedding. The color blue looks custom-dyed. Her earrings frame her face and accent her eyes.

Her front and center stlye is my favorite. His top hat, in this picture, is painfully frozen in his hands. Put it on your head!

Breath-taking. Statement-making. Very Evita Peron.

The look is young and daring, and stylish with the frontal placement of the hats.

And for the grand finale, these two outfits: regal, elegant, and so 2011 power-house feminist knock outs.

dolma pearls and McCall Wilder Designs

April 8th, 2011

McCall Wilder Designs‘ namesake, McCall Wilder, is an Atlanta-based designer of couture children’s clothing. Haven’t heard of her? Just pick up the latest edition of any Atlanta magazine, and you’re sure to find praise and press for this female entrepreneur with an affinity for the finest fabrics and a reputation or designing the most desirable frocks for girls and boys from babies to children’s size 16!

In her own words, McCall says:

“Growing up in Athens, Georgia, I had two dreams: to be a fashion designer and a writer. I [worked at CNN]  as a writer and producer until late 1999. After leaving the workforce and having my first child, I realized numerous moms were like me: trying without luck to find something their children would fit into that was also simple, elegant and heirloom quality.

I founded McCall Wilder Designs after trying unsuccessfully to find an outfit for my first baby’s christening. We were hoping our four-month-old son could wear my grandfather’s fragile 100-year-old gown. However, it was much too small like many heirloom gowns and we had to ‘make do’ with it on his special day. Though the gown was exquisite, it had not been properly cared for and was sized for a newborn. Like my family, many mothers and fathers in our generation are now baptizing their babies later in the first year of life and need gowns larger and more durable than those that have been handed down for generations. Some families are also waiting until well into the toddler years to schedule their baptisms and need special outfits that their little ones can also walk in!

Until the spring of 2008, we only took orders by appointment[.] In May 2008, we opened our first Boutique & Atelier in the heart of Atlanta to meet the needs of those who wanted to run in and select beautiful dresses and outfits already made, as well as those who wanted more in-depth custom items. The Baby McCall and McCall Wilder Designs lines now encompass more than 50 different styles, including crib bedding, ties and button-down shirts for boys, and wrap skirts for older girls.”

Her clients attest:

“Her designs are truly from a bygone era.”

“Her attention to detail is unprecedented”

“The fabrics that she uses are so luxurious and her designs are simply not found in this day and age.”

McCall is currently carrying a selection of dolma’s Oola line, but will soon be designing her own private label. Not only are we thrilled she could find something in our case to add to hers, but we can’t wait to see what adorable designs she’ll be thinking up.

Happy Clearance Shoppers!

April 1st, 2011

Alison O’Neil, Founder of Beauty Becomes You Foundation, took the afternoon off to meet a friend at Swan Coach House for lunch (in her new CLEARANCE purchases).

But she couldn’t resist coming back for more deals, and brought her friend for round two!

New Collection Launch Party in Atlanta!

March 29th, 2011

Day 6. Rings and Dumplings.

February 25th, 2011

Today we designed some fabulous stretch cocktail rings! I’m convinced we don’t have enough coming in. For sure we’re going to sell them all at our launch party (which we started scheming about today… to be announced very soon!)

We checked in on some designs we were waiting to see, and later headed to a dumplings restaurant to meet my friend in Shanghai and her aunt for soup dumplings, boiled peanuts, fried pork, some greens… (does that sound like a Southern meal in the US or what?!?) I assure you the flavors were different!
